Gatwick has become one of the two most expensive airports in the country to arrive at by car. The forecourt fee was recently increased by £3 to £10, the joint highest drop-off charge at any UK airport, and applies to all cars arriving at any terminal forecourt. Autofusion compares the most suitable hire and chauffeur vehicles and prices, with this fee included rather than added later.

All bookings involve the flight monitored and pickup scheduled accordingly, a chauffeur meeting you in arrivals with a sign with the passenger’s name, and one hour of waiting time for free. Child seats are also available on request.

Airport Transfers Gatwick

North or South, and where you are met

There are two terminals at Gatwick, North and South terminals, and this distinction becomes especially important when flying in or out of Gatwick. This is because they are separate buildings with separate road access, and a vehicle cannot go from one terminal forecourt to another without joining the road network once again. Missing the terminal will be both slow and costly.

Use the boarding pass to check the right terminal instead of relying on memory as the airlines change their terminals from time to time, and put the terminal into the booking form.

Drop-offs occur at the terminal forecourt, close to departures, but there is an extra charge for that which is included in your fare. Pickups take place in the Short Stay car park of the respective terminal. Meet & greet means your chauffeur meets you in arrivals with a sign bearing your name, and walks you up to the car. Shuttle service operates between the two terminals for the passengers, not for the vehicles, which is why the terminal must be put into the booking form.

Journeys to and from Gatwick

Transfers from Gatwick rely greatly on the south and the coast. Transfers from Brighton to Gatwick are the shortest routes and the most popular ones, transfers from Dover to Gatwick serve East Kent and ferry and cruise ports, and transfers from Southampton to Gatwick are for the south coast.

Long-distance trips happen quite often as well because Gatwick Airport has long routes that are not covered by regional airports. Transfers from Birmingham to Gatwick are the busiest of this type. Airport to airport transfers are busy enough as well and the most frequent route is Gatwick to Heathrow: if you depart from the west part of the city then compare Heathrow airport transfers and leave time for reclaim and checking-in at the other airport.

Choosing your vehicle

It is holiday traffic which makes the Business XL, the MPV vehicle, the largest one which carries six luggage items versus two from the saloon. Business is meant for business trips, Standard can take a fourth person and First and Executive are for those trips which require this type of transport.

Holiday groups of more than five people will need a second vehicle so it is better to book them on the same booking form.

Yes. It applies to all vehicles using the forecourt at the terminal, and it is included in the price quoted.

Check your boarding pass rather than your airline's website or recollection of a past trip, since airlines change terminals sometimes. They have different road accesses and a vehicle cannot transfer from one forecourt to another without going back on the road, so the terminal needs to go into the booking.

In the Short Stay car park at your terminal, or in arrivals with a named sign if you have booked meet and greet. Pre-arranged collections do not take place from the forecourt.

The flight is tracked and the collection is made based on the real arrival time, with 60 minutes free waiting time afterwards.

Yes. Gatwick to Heathrow is the most common, but also Stansted, Luton and London City. Allow plenty of time for immigration, baggage retrieval and check-in at the other airport.

An executive saloon, which is Business class, for 1-3 people, Standard for 4 people, and Business XL for holiday luggage with up to 6 bags. First and Executive classes provide additional comfort. A group larger than 5 persons will require two cars.
