This long distance route from Norwich to Heathrow airport is about 130 miles, and distance is the least of it. Norwich has no motorway connection to London, and the first stretch is on the A11, so the trip takes more time than expected.
Isolation creates demand. Norwich Airport operates a limited range of flights which include mostly holiday and regional destinations and hence long-haul is indeed a long trip however you choose it, and a lot of the travellers come from the Norfolk rural areas.
Norwich to Heathrow
Rail is genuinely competitive on this route. The Elizabeth line runs from the terminals to Liverpool Street, then Greater Anglia continues to Norwich, with just one change, in around 2 hours 40 minutes. Driving takes closer to 2 hours 50.
So the train is marginally faster for someone already standing at Norwich station with luggage light enough to carry.
Very few passengers on this route fit that description. Norfolk pickups tend to start in villages, meaning an extra trip just to reach the station; holiday luggage turns a change of platform into a nuisance; and the earliest flights aren't in the timetable at all. Once the trip starts from a front door rather than a platform, that ten-minute advantage stops meaning much.
Type the address where the collection will take place, the terminal, the time and the flight number when collecting a passenger. In case of early flights from Norfolk, it is advisable to book in advance. Compare Norwich to Gatwick transfers for the other London airport, Heathrow terminal transfers for the airport end, and Colchester to Stansted transfers for the closer East Anglian airport.
