The Route

Cambridge to Heathrow airport, one of our long distance chauffeur routes, is about 70 miles by the M11 and M25. Stansted Airport is much closer, at 30 miles, so this transfer is meant for long-haul flights: the intercontinental connections Stansted doesn't provide.

Demand comes from what goes on in the city. University departments, research institutes, and the technology cluster cause constant demand for international flights with a lot of equipment along with regular baggage.

Getting into London is easy from Cambridge - direct trains run to King's Cross or Liverpool Street, and the leg itself is quick.

Neither station is the airport, though. From King's Cross, the Piccadilly line covers the rest, but that's almost an hour on the Underground with luggage, and the full journey comes to about 2 hours against 1 hour 45 by road - slower and more awkward at once.

It gets worse starting from a research park, since very few of them are within walking distance of a station.
